Here are a list of Frequently asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

"i was just looking at your website and im really interested in joining your karate club. i was wondering if you also teach self defence methods such as kick boxing. please would you get back to me as soon as possible with the timings and fees for all ages." We are not a karate club but a Tae Kwon Do school. Similar in many respects but one is Japanese and the other Korean.  We teach both Self defence AND kick boxing as Tae Kwon Do means the "art of hand and foot fighting". see Training for times and fees.
"I was thinking about joining a tkd club but was told that i have to do pressups on my knuck;les on a ceramony or grading ...is this true?"
True but only adult males (over 18) are required to do only 10 press-ups for there grading only. No ceremony require press-ups
hi im interested in joining your Tae Kwon Do class. im 18 & a complete begginer. i was hoping to join the start or january, can u email me the prices etc. thanks You can join at anytime. see Training for dates and fees.
"My name is xxxx. I saw information about your Tae Kwon Do club on the internet and would like to find out about having lessons. Can I just turn up for the 7pm class or do I need to arrange a start date with you? Also, can you please let me know about prices of classes/membership" Yes you can just turn up and train for a few FREE lessons to see if it is right for you. see Training for dates and fees

"i have a team of young boys from kenya who are into taekwondo and would like exposure would you consider inviting them for some kind of championship maybe for a week they will pay for their expenses" I do not organise tournaments, please contact the tournament organisers. However NLTKD does offer FREE training to African TKD student already on holidays in London.
"I was going through the rules section of your website and one rule is to "Bow to the flag or class before entering or leaving the Dojang" i am not able to follow this rule because i am a muslim and my religon forbids me to bow or kneel to anyone but god. (no disrespect from me at all) am i allowed to train without bowing?"

All Tae Kwon Do students are required to bow to the flag, the instructor and each other out of respect. The rule is based on the Korean customs and culture from where Tae Kwon Do originated and we in NLTKD need to respect the Korean customs.

Most Tae Kwon Do stances, names, definitions have some relationship to the Korean and occasionally Buddhist culture. Other than bowing, you need to check for other issues which may also create conflicts to you.

I do hope this issue does not prevent you from training. Within the GTI, there are many Muslims that train in Tae Kwon Do and I make allowances particularly around Ramadan.

Also I appreciate that Sunday, is a special day for some people, but most Tae Kwon Do events are held on Sundays.

"Thinking about joining up for Tae Kwon Do classes, is there any chance you could send me more information with regards to this.I live in Leytonstone and was thinking that I could maybe start as soon as next week if possible."

Please browse this website for more information and if the information you require is not answered please do not hesitate to call me on 07850567018
"Do I have to sign a contract?" No, we don't do contracts.
"I am thinking of joining a martial arts school and I saw your ad, what do I do next?" Turn up 10mins before one of our training lesson to have a chat and to see what we are doing. if your feeling adventurous, come in loose clothing and have a go at a few free lessons.
"I have done TKD ages ago, but forgotten some of my moves. will I have to start again?" No. You will start from where you left off., but you will need to retrain and remember all before you can get you next grade. Bring any proof of past grading/training if you can
"I am a green belt in WTF Tae Kwon Do, will I have to start from the beginning again. Can I use my old suit?" You will be recognised as a green belt in Taekwondo and allowed to wear your Green Belt in class however you will need to learn ITF style patterns before you can grade or progress. You can use your old suit in our class but you would need a GTI suit to grade and /or enter competitions.
"What is the difference between WTF and ITF" Politics See Google for lots of different opinions'.

also, the WTF is more of a sport and practice "full contact" sparring but your not allowed to hit your opponent's face or head with your fist. Hence WTF fight with there hands down by there sides to protect themselves from kicks only.

We (ITF) practice "semi-contact" sparring, which is actually more difficult to master and we use both kicks and punches to either the body AND head. Therefore we fight with our hands up in a more "kick boxing" posture and style. Also being a traditional martial arts, ITF style also emphasises other aspects of Tae Kwon Do like self defence, destruction, patterns etc.
